Prince Dapo Abiodun, the executive governor of Ogun state ahead of the October 1st Independence celebration, on 29th September commemorated the National Day in a church service held at Cathedral of St. Peter, Ake, Abeokuta in the state with some chiefs and dignitaries of the state.
The governor during his speech stated that the occasion caused for celebration to honor the founding fathers and those whom have in one way or the other contributed to the development of Nigeria.
Despite the economy hardship and predicament in the country, Abiodun urged Nigerians to remain united , stating that as a unit, the country will rise to greatness, while government keep working on promoting growth and providing jobs for the unemployed.
The governor’s speech read: “This occasion is a time for reflection and gratitude, honoring the sacrifices of our founding fathers and the dedication of countless Nigerians who have contributed to our progress. We also extend our appreciation to President and the people of Ogun State for their steadfast support and commitment to national development.
“Despite the challenges we face, including insecurity and economic hardship, our administration in Ogun State remains focused on driving progress. We are committed to creating opportunities for our youth, fostering innovation, and promoting economic growth through initiatives such as CNG buses, transport allowances, and affordable food markets. These efforts are part of our broader vision under the ISEYA mantra, aimed at building a state where every citizen can thrive.
“We call on all Nigerians to remain united and resilient, rejecting divisive actions and embracing the diversity that strengthens our nation. With faith in God and perseverance, we will overcome our current challenges and continue to work together for a brighter future. Nigeria will rise to greatness again, and together, we can build a nation that upholds justice, equality, and prosperity for all. Igbega Ipinle Ogun, Ajose gbogbo wa ni.” Abiodun added.
As we commemorate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Anniversary, we give thanks to God for His grace and mercy that have sustained our nation.
