José Mourinho is reportedly in advanced talks with Real Madrid over a sensational return to the Santiago Bernabéu, with an agreement in principle expected soon according to multiple reports in Spain and Portugal.

The Portuguese manager, who is currently in charge of Benfica, has emerged as one of Real Madrid’s leading candidates ahead of a major rebuild expected this summer. Reports suggest discussions have accelerated in recent days, with club president Florentino Pérez believed to be heavily involved in the process.

Mourinho previously managed Real Madrid between 2010 and 2013, winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup during a highly competitive era that helped re-establish Madrid among Europe’s elite.
