João Pedro’s entire family had gathered together to watch Carlo Ancelotti’s World Cup squad announcement.
They were recording their reactions, hoping to witness the moment the 24-year-old Brazilian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Premier League club Chelsea and previously for Brighton & Hove Albion, would receive his first-ever World Cup call-up.
However, the video ended in disappointment and sadness after his name was never announced.
Pedro who was recently named Chelsea’s Men’s Player of the Season for the 2025/26 campaign after scoring 20 goals, in statement after being left out of the World Cup expressed his disappointment.
“I tried to give my best at all times. Unfortunately, it wasn’t possible to fulfill this dream of representing my country in a World Cup, but I remain calm and focused, as I always try to be.
“Joys and frustrations are part of football. From now on, I wish good luck to everyone who is there and I will be just another fan cheering for them to bring the sixth title home”.
