CORRUPTION Vs INSTITUTION

It’s institutions that minimize corruption all over the world.
Take a deep and analytical look at our Banking system, Legal system, Housing and Land documentation system all devoid user friendly, effective, easily audited and verifiable systems when compaired to the Banking Industry

Today monies lodged in the bank can be easily traced with BVN and NIN or Account Number. That was not possible 20 years ago when our banking system was not automated . If we digitize our Land Documentation, whatever anybody owns can be traced with a single touch of the button on the computers .

I went to the Lagos tenement rate office at Durosimi Etti during the week to complain about my bill and the classification of my house on the island. I was pleasantly surprised that the lady on her Lap top sorted out my problems and told me that the account will reconcile once they confirm it’s not commercial residence and all Payments made to Lagos state Tenament office that are not posted will be rectified.
A consultant two years ago was to take 10% on the bill savings.
We need working institutions.

Imagine if all land and properties in the country can be digitised and linked to their respective owners. Corruption and tax evasion will be drastically reduced.

Just imagine if all financial institutions (banks , insurance, stockbroker) are integrated and everyone’s holding can be aggregated and amalgamated the incentive to be corrupt will be drastically reduced.

Also if all cases in Courts up to the Supreme Court can be decided in 2 years . The corruption and crime impunity will be minimal. Businesses will prosper .
The banks are using their capacity to pay legal fees in dealing with their helpless customers with impunity .
Today nobody is sure the way our oil revenue is collected but am sure systems are being put in place to increase our production and revenue collection and monitoring. That’s the Lagos effect that is manifesting in this government . It’s more of a mental revolution that we need to create a system that works for everyone.
The full deregulation of the petrol pricing has been painful but it will exterminate several rent collectors for the good of the nation .
We need leaders who can build institutions and that is why I personally support the present reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. If he should continue on this path of reforms that is telling me that in my lifetime I can have inflation below 5 percent.
The Europeans and US inflation of about 2% to under 3% for the past over two decades will become applicable in Nigeria.
It was Covid-19 Pandemic and Russia Ukraine global supply chain disruption that truncated it . Inflation went to 9% and is back to 2-3% . So tomorrow will be better for Nigeria as the fruits of the reforms beginning to unfold before the end of third quarter of 2025.
