Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos state in a post on X affirmed that the inaugural ride is a symbol of new era in public transportation in the state.
Sanwo-Olu who had been on the ride from Oyingbo station to Alagbado stated that the Red line will revolutionize Lagosians movement, connect communities and boost the economy.
In his words: “This is just the beginning of our vision to transform Lagos into a world-class city with efficient and sustainable transport systems. We are proud to commence the Red Line’s commercial operations, linking the heart of Lagos to its suburbs.
“This rail system is more than just infrastructure—it’s an investment in our people’s time, productivity, and quality of life.
“As we continue to expand our transport network, we are committed to ensuring that every Lagosian benefits from these advancements. Together, we are building a Lagos that works for everyone.” He pledged.
