Fading Giants: Ghana’s Fail to Qualify for AFCON 2025

Ghana crashed out of AFCON 2025 after a disappointing 1-1 draw against Angola. The Black Stars needed a win to keep their hopes of qualifying for the tournament alive and showed early intent in the game. Jordan Ayew opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a spectacular strike. Angola had an opportunity to equalize in the 28th minute when M’Bala Nzola stepped up for a penalty, but his effort was saved by goalkeeper Abdul Manaf Nurudeen.

Angola dominated possession and continued to press forward, eventually finding the equalizer in the 64th minute through Zini. The home side had a late chance to secure a winner, but Abdul Manaf Nurudeen made a crucial save, rushing out to deny Chico Banza.

The result, however, was not enough to keep Ghana’s AFCON 2025 hopes alive, marking a disappointing end to their campaign.
