INDIA P.M. MODI, ARRIVES ABUJA TO STRENGHTEN BILATERAL TIES BETWEEN BOTH NATIONS.

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi arrived Abuja Nigeria in the early of Sunday for his two-day visit in the country to strengthen their bilateral ties.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had earlier posted his anticipation of his guest arrival on X, stating: “I look forward to welcoming Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his first visit to Nigeria, which is also the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to our dear country since 2007.
“Our bilateral discussions will seek to expand the strategic partnership between both countries and enhance cooperation in critical sectors. Welcome to Nigeria, PM Modi.” He added.
The India PM was warmly welcomed by Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, Minister for Federal Capital Territory upon his arrival in Abuja, alongside the Indian community in the country.
Narendra visit is the first visit in 17 years, as the two countries have a long standing relationship that spans over two decades but this visit is significant as it will be followed by G20 summit in Brazil later this month, on the initiative of India, Nigeria was invited as a quest country for the first time on the G20 platform in Delhi.
During the two days visit there will be a one-on-one discussion between both leaders at the villa in Abuja, to discuss digital economy and survey and others.
India has become one of Nigeria’s largest trading partners. The trade between the two countries includes significant Nigerian exports of crude oil to India, alongside a variety of Indian exports to Nigeria ranging from pharmaceuticals to machinery.
In 2023, during the G20 Summit, there were discussions about further economic cooperation, with Indian firms pledging nearly $14 billion in investments to Nigeria.
Investment: India is a leading investor in Nigeria, with investments spanning pharmaceuticals, telecom, manufacturing, and more. Companies like Bharti Airtel and Tata have made substantial investments, making India one of the largest foreign investors in Nigeria.
