CAF has unveiled the nominees for the 2024 CAF Awards in the women’s football category, with the ceremony scheduled for December 16 in Marrakech, Morocco. However, notable absentee Asisat Oshoala, a five-time CAF Women’s Player of the Year, was not included in this year’s shortlist.
Nigeria featured prominently in the nominations, with Rasheedat Ajibade and Chiamaka Nnadozie in contention for the prestigious Player of the Year award. Nnadozie also earned a nomination for Goalkeeper of the Year. Additionally, Emem Essien and Monle Oyono were shortlisted for the Interclub Player of the Year award, recognizing their exceptional displays in the CAF Champions League.
Nigeria’s representation extended further, with the Nigerian u17, u20 and Senior national team receiving a nomination for National Team of the Year, while Edo Queens secured a spot in the Club of the Year category. Three Nigerian coaches were also recognized in the Coach of the Year category: Bankole Olowookere (U17 Women’s National Team), Chris Danjuma (U20 Women’s National Team), and Moses Adukwu (Edo Queens).
