Nigerian senator and human right activist Shehu sani in a post on Thursday applauded the move of president Bola Ahmed Tinubu in cultivating friendship with France but warned that Nigeria should not be made into a joke in Africa.”
Sani’s post read: “Improving Trade, Business, Educational, Scientific and Cultural relations with France is welcome development.
“But we must not be their political or neocolonial stooge in West Africa.”
This is coming after the president alongside his wife, Oluremi visit to Paris on Wednesday for a landmark three-day State Visit aimed at deepening the relationship between Nigeria and France.
The leaders engage in high-level talks focusing on key areas, including agriculture, security, education, health, youth development, and energy transition.
A key highlight of the visit is the emphasis on youth development, with both Presidents committed to expanding youth exchange programs and fostering expertise in automation, entrepreneurship, and leadership.
Their discussions will also address shared priorities such as trade and investment, finance, and solid minerals, promising transformative outcomes for both nations.
