Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove was rushed to the hospital yesterday after collapsing on the pitch during their Serie A match against Inter Milan. The incident, which saw the player lose consciousness, led to the suspension and calling off of the game.
In an update shared on their X account, Fiorentina and the Careggi University Hospital stated:
*”ACF and the Careggi University Hospital announce that footballer Edoardo Bove, who was assisted on the field after losing consciousness during the #FiorentinaInter match, is currently under pharmacological sedation and hospitalized in intensive care. Bove arrived stable from a hemodynamic point of view at the emergency room, and the initial cardiological and neurological tests excluded acute damage to the central nervous system and the cardiorespiratory system. He will be re-evaluated within the next 24 hours”.
Positive news emerged in the early hours of this morning, with Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano confirming that Bove’s condition had greatly improved. “Positive news for Edoardo Bove as the night went well, and Fiorentina’s player was extubated after almost 13 hours. Edoardo is awake, conscious, and answering questions,” Romano posted, citing Repubblica, which also confirmed there were no signs of brain or heart damage.
Bove got message of support from a lot of people from across the footballing world. His team mate David de Gea wrote on X: “God please,” while Serie A extended their support with a simple but heartfelt message: “Forza Edoardo. We’re all with you.” His parent club also showed support, posting: “One of us, we are all with you.”
