Ashworth Leaves His Role As Manchester United Sporting Director After Five Months.

Manchester United has parted ways with sporting director Dan Ashworth, just five months into his tenure. The Englishman took up the sporting director role on July 1st, after the club paid £3m to Newcastle United following a lengthy wait.

Ashworth was a key figure under the INEOS project, making crucial decisions during last summer’s transfers, which saw the club spend £200 million. According to reports from The Athletic the decision to relieve Ashworth of his duties came after a meeting between Chief Executive Officer Omar Berrada and Ashworth, following Manchester United’s 3-2 loss to Nottingham Forest .

According to reports from @talkSPORT, things weren’t perfect between Omar Berrada and Dan Ashworth as there was a personality clash. This decision is unlikely to sit well with the Manchester United faithful, a survey by Mirror Football revealed that two-thirds of the fan base are unhappy with how Manchester United shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe is running the club.

Ratcliffe has made several questionable decisions since taking over the footballing side of Manchester United, including retaining Ten Hag despite obvious concerns, making dubious transfers, sacking Eric Ten Hag mid-season, and increasing ticket prices to £66 per game.
