Uruguayan defender Ronald Araújo has extended his contract with Barcelona until 2031.

Barcelona announced the news of the extension with a picture of the player and Club President Joan Laporta on its official Instagram handle.

A few days ago, the player was linked with a move to Juventus. According to reports Araújo no longer felt important to the Blaugrana after returning from a lengthy injury with Uruguay that kept him sidelined for 181 days. However, after discussions with head coach Hansi Flick and President Laporta, the 25-year-old decided to remain at the club.

Araújo has been a member of Barça’s first team since 2021. He has won La Liga, the Spanish Super Cup, and the Copa del Rey with Barcelona.
