Barcelona Opened the Floodgates as They Thrashed Valencia 7-1

Barcelona went ahead as early as the third minute through Frenkie de Jong. Five minutes later, Ferran Torres found the back of the net against his old side, refusing to celebrate out of respect for the club. Raphinha made it three in the 14th minute after a precise through ball by Fermin López.

Barcelona got a fourth in the 24th minute. Pau Cubarsí played a long ball from the Barcelona half, and Fermin López controlled it brilliantly before slotting it into the top-right corner, giving Mamardashvili no chance. Fermin López completed his brace in first-half stoppage time.

Fourteen minutes after the restart, Hugo Duro gave Valencia a consolation goal. Robert Lewandowski came off the bench to make it six, taking his goal tally in the league to 17 this season. The rout was completed in the 75th minute when César Tárrega inadvertently scored an own goal.

This was Barcelona’s second 7+ goal victory in the league this season. They have now scored 101 goals in 32 games under Hansi Flick’s management. Barcelona leads the league in goals scored with 59 and currently sits third in La Liga, seven points behind leaders Real Madrid.
