Newcastle United took a big step toward ending their long wait for silverware with a commanding 4-0 aggregate victory over Arsenal in the Carabao Cup semi-finals.
The Magpies entered the second leg with a 2-0 advantage. They got the first goal in the 19th minute through Jacob Murphy.
Anthony Gordon then took advantage of David Raya’s mistake in the 52nd minute to seal Newcastle’s place in the final.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Gordon said, “We had a game plan we thought would work. Everyone knows we press.” He added, “It is important for us to stay humble now. It will be a big occasion, but it’s so far away.”
Newcastle will face either Liverpool or Tottenham Hotspur in the final. This will be their second Carabao Cup final appearance under Eddie Howe, following their 2023 loss. The Magpies will be eager to make up for the loss and deliver their first Silverware since 1969.
