Bayern Munich and Joshua Kimmich Nearing Contract Extension

Bayern Munich are close to extending Joshua Kimmich’s contract, Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano has reported. A week ago, reports from the German press suggested that Bayern had withdrawn their renewal offer for Kimmich, but that rumor has now been debunked.

Fabrizio Romano wrote on X:

”Joshua Kimmich and Bayern have exchanged all documents for a new deal valid until June 2029.

Agreement in place and deal set to be signed very soon, as BILD reported.

Kimmich never advanced in talks with any other club, only approaches — priority to FC Bayern.”

The news of the German international’s contract extension will come as a disappointment to Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal, and Barcelona, as all three clubs had shown interest in signing him.

The Bavarians trust Kimmich and see him as a key figure for the future. He is also well-placed to take over the captain’s armband once Manuel Neuer retires.
