Newcastle United defender Sven Botman has been ruled out for eight weeks due to a knee injury. The setback means he will miss the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool, a disappointing blow for Newcastle fans.
Botman had only recently returned in March 2024 after a 10-month absence following an anterior cruciate ligament injury. Since his comeback, he has featured in five matches, all of which he started.
With Botman sidelined, Eddie Howe may have to rely on a back-four partnership comprising of Fabian Schär and Dan Burn.
The Magpies currently sit ninth in the Premier League, three points behind the Champions League places, with a game in hand over their top-five rivals.
