Police Arrest Two In Connection With Trans-Niger Delta Pipeline Fire Explosion in Rivers State

An explosion rocked the Trans-Niger Pipeline between the border of Kpor and Bodo in Gokana Local Government Area of Rivers State, late on Monday night.

It was gathered that incident happened on the major export pipeline which transports crude to the Bonny Terminal, however, what led to it is yet to be ascertain by the police operatives.

According to the Rivers State Police Command press statement, the affected pipeline was been shut down in order to avert havoc and situation under control.

“During a routine night patrol, security operatives observed the incident and promptly alerted SPDC management.

“The latter initiated necessary safety protocols, including shutting down the affected pipeline. As a result of swift intervention, the situation is now under control, and there is no further threat to residents or the environment.” The statement read in part

The authorities reported that two individuals have been arrested in connection with the explosion, and investigations are ongoing to determine if the explosion was due to sabotage.
