Jonah Platt the son of the producer of ‘snow white’ Marc Platt in a reaction knocked the film lead actor, Rachel Zegler, he claimed she ruined his father’s hundreds of millions of dollars investment.
The Disney’s live-action remake of Snow White hit the theatres and has reportedly performed poorly at the box office.
The backlash started when the 23-year-old lead actor referred to the original 1937 Snow White movie as outdated and even suggested that the prince was depicted as a “guy who literally stalks her,” howbeit, she now bears the brunt of the film’s failure while Platt’s eldest son blamed the reason on Zegler dragging politics into the movie publicity, thus exacerbating a negative PR.
According to reports, Jonah’s reaction comes after Marc flew to New York in August, at Disney’s request, to ask Rachel to delete her “Free Palestine” comment, shared alongside the Snow White trailer release.
Jonah’s comment was found on Instagram after one user asked why his dad flew to New York City to talk to Zegler about tanking the movie.
He categorically laid blame on the 23-year-old lead actor and her narcissism for the film’s flop.
“Tens of thousands of people worked on that film and she hijacked the conversation for her own immature desires at the risk of all the colleagues and crew and blue-collar workers who depend on that movie to be successful.”
“Narcissism is not something to be coddled or encouraged.”
When a netizen pointed it out, Jonah replied, “Yeah, my dad, the producer of the enormous piece of Disney IP with hundreds of millions of dollars on the line, had to leave his family to fly across the country to reprimand his 20-year-old employee for dragging her personal politics into the middle of promoting the movie for which she signed a multi-million dollar contract to get paid and do publicly for.”
The Platt’s reaction has caused controversial debate on the social media with some pitching their tents toward Zegler, insisting that she cant be blame solely for the movie failure, that’s a contributed effort from the whole team
@Javi_Air77 opined: “He’s full of shit! Disney created a woke remake-imagining of Snow White. Turned her into a boss-bitch and emboldened Rachel to shit talk the original. It wasn’t just her ruining the movie. This was a huge team effort.”
@lilbit1981: “I agree with him… but it’s also unfair to put 100% of the failures on her. The fact he chose to CGI the drawfs, to change the story line to remove the Prince, to cast a far better actress who was more stunning as the “ugly” step mother. His Dad owns those mistakes.”
@Alien_frank1: “It wasn’t Rachel Zegler that ruined the movie. It was Marc Platt and Disney for making it woke. Is it really this difficult for Joan Platt and people to understand this?
@Calenyita: “hey’re scapegoating her. She didn’t ruin the movie. It was rotten to the core. She saved opening weekend moviegoers their money. Thanks, Rachel.”
While some castigated the 23-year-old as a total failure who refused to take responsibility for her action and will be blacklisted in Disney’s movie
@TheGasStovee: “Poor Disney didn’t know that they were hiring a commie The producer’s son has a point. Rachel dragged her politics into the movie promotions, thus, exacerbating the negative PR.”
@2BLTdeveloper: “Simply the tone of her voice & her body language make it undeniable that she’s narcissistic, & has never been told no, nor taken responsibly for anything she’s done wrong.”
@LOUG888: “The only movie of Zegler i would watch is if she plays @AOC as a deranged, mentally unstable person thinking she fits to be in office. Zegler wouldn’t really need to “act” much to be honest since they both act crazy and look the same.”
Snow White’s storyline remains true to the Brothers Grimm tale, following the titular character as she finds refuge with seven dwarf miners after being banished into a perilous forest by her envious stepmother.
Directed by Marc Webb, known for his work on The Amazing Spider-Man and 500 Days of Summer, the film features a script by Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida Wilson.
Gal Gadot plays the evil queen. The film introduces a new male lead character portrayed by Tony Award-winning actor Andrew Burnap.
