Atlético Madrid eyeing Tottenham defender Cristian Romero

Atlético Madrid are interested in Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Cristian Romero. Atlético Madrid’s head coach, Diego Simeone, really likes Romero and sees him as a player who perfectly fits into his style of play.

Romero has been at Spurs since 2021. The club bought him from Atalanta for £42.5m, a fee that has proven to be a worthy investment. He has played 115 times for the club.

Romero is set to enter the final two years of his contract, and it’s believed that he doesn’t like the idea of the club going trophyless every season.

Tottenham are currently set to miss out on European competition next season, as the club occupies 14th place in the Premier League. The only avenue for Spurs to book a place in Europe is by winning the Europa League, which will help them earn a place in the UEFA Champions League. If Spurs fail to win the competition, it is believed that Romero might push for a move away from the white side of North London.
