Qatar Sports Investments Interested in Málaga CF Takeover

L’Équipe has reported that Qatar Sports Investments (QSI), the owners of French club Paris Saint-Germain, are interested in acquiring Spanish second-division side Málaga CF. Talks are progressing rapidly, with negotiations ongoing and an agreement estimated at £100 million.

According to reports from the French publication, QSI is keen on buying Málaga due to the city’s role as a co-host for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which will lead to stadium renovations. Additionally, Málaga is the sixth-largest city in Spain, making it an attractive market for investment.

If the takeover is successful, it would be welcomed by Málaga supporters and the city as a whole. QSI’s track record in football investment, particularly their transformation of PSG into a global football brand, suggests a promising future for the Spanish club.

QSI took over PSG in 2011 and has since spent £1.9 billion on player transfers, securing world-class talents such as Zlatan Ibrahimović, Neymar, Kylian Mbappé, and Lionel Messi. Under their ownership, PSG has won 34 trophies.
