More Than 34,000 People Signs Petition Demanding For Justice In The Unlawful Death Of Teejay, Ask That Adams-Odutayo Be Brought To Book.

There is an ongoing petition being signed by Nigerians that are calling for justice for Adetunji Opayele, also known as Teejay, the co-founder and Chief Technical Officer of Bumpa, who died untimely on March 4 following an accident and a disregard his life.

This is coming after Biola Adams Odutayo, a healthcare professional and Head of Health at a reputable insurance brokering firm, reportedly drove on the wrong side of the road hit TeeJay off his bike on his way back from the gym around 10:20P:M, however, she refused to step out of her car nor take him to hospital, even after bystanders and good Samaritans pleaded with her.

The petition on Change.org demand proof that Adams-Odutayo is still in Lagos State and want justice dully serve.

Her excuse for refusal was stated to be that because she doesn’t want his blood to stain her car.

“When they approached her friend, they were told, ‘She doesn’t want blood to stain her car.’ As Teejay lay unconscious but still breathing, the healthcare professional and Head of Health at a reputable insurance brokering firm, chose to stay on a phone call for over 30 minutes instead of helping to save a life,” the petition reads in part.

According to report, the police summoned Biola Adams-Odutayo to the station on March 17 and she failed to show up, one of the reasons why Nigerians are charged up for signing the petition

Adams-Odutayo, driving a vehicle with license plate number LND 418 JR, appeared on the expressway without considering oncoming traffic

The petition on X revealed that bystanders desperately tried to get Opayele to a hospital, but many cars refused to stop until they managed to convince an Uber driver to transport him. However, the two hospitals the well-meaning passersby took Opayele to hospital where he was refused him admittance.

In desperation, the concerned individuals returned to the accident scene and placed him in a minibus. They also forced Biola Adams-Odutayo to accompany them, hoping that her presence would prevent further rejections.

“The only reason she remained at the accident scene was that bystanders physically prevented her from fleeing, especially after she had already arranged for her car to be towed away,” the petition stated.

“At 11:30 pm, Opayele’s brother received a call about the incident. He rushed to the scene and met a Samaritan who had held on to his belongings. The Samaritan handed them over to Opayele’s brother and accompanied him to the hospital where Opayele had been taken. On arrival, they were informed that Opayele was also just being brought in. This was past midnight. Shortly after arriving, he was declared dead.”

The petition further noted that after Teejay was pronounced dead, Biola Adams-Odutayo walked into the hospital and requested a drip, claiming she was in shock, before attempting to flee the premises.

Although she was arrested, the petition claimed that she and her family had boasted about their ‘connections’ and employed various tactics against Opayele’s grieving family and friends.

“To add insult to injury, Biola Adams-Odutayo indeed made good on those connections, as the Nigerian police charged her with reckless driving only, as if Opayele’s life was worth no more than a traffic violation,” the petition stated.

“Biola Adams-Odutayo was detained for only one night at the police station, and her whereabouts remained unknown for several days until she was charged in court with mere reckless driving.

“Her bail conditions were set at N1 million and two sureties, which she met on the same day. Since then, she has been comfortably at home, enjoying her freedom. This is why we are bringing our story to the public.”

This has caused anger of several people on X, including some of the deceased class mate at the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) who all wants to ensure that he get justice and his family closure.

@iamrenike: “Biola Adams Odutayo took my friend from me. She hit him with her car and refused to take him to the hospital because she didn’t want blood to stain her car seats. Now she’s trying to escape justice. Please sign this petition.”

Nigerians queried the inaction of Adams-Odutayo and wondered at the level of such wickedness and lack of empathy for human lives.

@aproko_doctor: “What do you mean you don’t want blood to stain your car seat? A human being was losing their life due to your negligence, but your car seat was more important? Wickedness”

@hackSultan: “TeeJay was alive for about 2 hours after the accident. He could have been saved. This is really close to home, TeeJay would still be alive now if the woman (Miss Biola Adams-Odutayo) had been driving with caution, if after the accident the driver ( Miss Biola Adams-Odutayo) rendered assistant to him instead of abandoning him on the floor and refusing to come to his rescue instantly.

“Instead she started making calls for about 30 minutes and TeeJay was left there on the floor. If the friend of Miss Biola Adams-Odutayo who was with her didn’t refuse to drive him to the hospital instantly and wasn’t saying she doesn’t want blood to stain her car.

“If they didn’t just carry him with an uber to the hospital (without care) If the two hospital didn’t reject to treat him. If the didn’t carry him with a korope van when they had a car that would make transportation comfortable for the victim.

“All these would have been prevented if Miss Biola Adams-Odutayo had not wasted 30 minutes making phone calls and tried to actually save his life after her negligence.”

As at this write up more than 34,000 people have signed the petition.
