Mensik Stuns Fritz to Reach First ATP Masters 1000 Final

Jakub Mensik shocked American Taylor Fritz to reach his first-ever ATP Masters 1000 final at the Miami Open.

The Czech teenager secured his spot in the final with a hard-fought 7-6 (4), 4-6, 7-6 (4) victory over the No. 3 seed at the Hard Rock Stadium.

After the win, Mensik told reporters: “I just cannot describe how I feel right now. The feeling will come later. It was a fantastic atmosphere, even though I was facing an American here.”

At 19, Mensik became the third-youngest finalist in Miami Open history, behind only Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz.

He entered the tournament ranked No. 54 in the PIF ATP rankings and is now the third-lowest-ranked finalist in the event’s history. His semifinal victory moved him up to No. 34 in the PIF ATP Live rankings, and a win in the final would see him rise to No. 24.

Mensik will face tennis legend Novak Djokovic in the final. Djokovic advanced with a commanding 6-2, 6-3 win over Grigor Dimitrov.
