Egypt to Host 2025 U-20 AFCON After Ivory Coast withdrawal

CAF has announced Egypt as the host of the 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations. The development comes after Ivory Coast decided to pull out as the tournament host.

CAF announced Egypt as host in an official statement that reads:

“The Confédération Africaine de Football (CAF) today awarded the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) and the Egyptian government the rights to host the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations 2025. This is subsequent to CAF having been informed by the Fédération Ivoirienne de Football (FIF) and the Government of Côte d’Ivoire that, due to unforeseen circumstances, they are unable to host the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations 2025.”

Egypt being awarded the hosting rights means they will now host back-to-back U-20 AFCON tournaments.

The hosts are in Group B alongside Nigeria, Morocco, and South Africa.
