Teenager In Obi’s Iconic Photo During 2023 Election Detain In Kirikiri, Activist And Human Right Lawyer To Step In

Yusuf Alabi, the young man in Peter Obi’s iconic 2023 rally photos, who went viral for standing in front of Obi’s convoy is reportedly detained in Kirikiri prison for months.

According to reports, he was heading home from work when some community boys stopped him, seized his phone, and handed him over to the police.

@Hausa_girl an activist, disclosed that she has been standing with him in court and his next date is April 28, asserting that his case file is currently with the DPP and presently talking to a human right lawyer regarding his case.

In her words: “I’ve spoken with his mother and we also went to his last court hearing at Orege court Ajegunle on the 27th of March which was adjourned till 28th of this month. Case file is currently at DPP

“The court is awaiting advice from DPP on how to proceed with the case. He’s suffering from the entitlement people had when he was gifted money during the last election. The boy is innocent… he’s just a victim!

“He was coming back from work the day some guys in the street apprehended him and took him to the police station. The guys told the police that he’s among the people stealing and fighting in the area which is not true. He’s being charged with stealing and fighting.”

In an update, the activist stated that: “So we’re talking to @InibeheEffiong about this case and we’ll be seeing him on Thursday alongside the boy’s mother, then proceed to the correctional center where he’s been held at to get the full brief from the boy.”
