Declan Rice Stuns Real Madrid with Two Brilliant Free-Kicks as Arsenal Win 3-0

Arsenal stunned Real Madrid 3-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League clash at the Emirates. Declan Rice grabbed the headlines as his two free-kicks made the difference on the night.

Arsenal took the game to Real Madrid from the early stages. The Gunners could have gone two goals up but couldn’t take advantage of Saka’s dangerous crosses into the box.

But Rice stepped up in the second half and made the difference.

Arsenal’s threat in front of goal finally led to a tangible result when Declan Rice gave Arsenal the lead in the 58th minute with a well-bent free-kick that went past Thibaut Courtois.

Rice scored his second free-kick of the night in the 70th minute. The England international used the same technique as the first, curving another shot into the top right corner, leaving Thibaut Courtois with no chance.

Five minutes later, Mikel Merino increased the Gunners’ cushion with a long-range effort from outside the area, again leaving Thibaut Courtois helpless.

Real Madrid’s nightmare continued into stoppage time as Eduardo Camavinga was shown a second yellow card.

Arsenal are one leg into the semi-finals of the Champions League, but the job isn’t done yet. Real Madrid are a side that knows the competition well. The Gunners will need to be at their best to qualify for their first Champions League semi-final since 2009.
