Andre Onana came under heavy criticism following a woeful performance as Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw against Lyon in the first leg of their UEFA Europa League quarter-final clash.
The Cameroonian goalkeeper proved Nemanja Matic’s previous comments right, with many now considering him one of Manchester United’s worst goalkeepers in recent memory. Onana received a dismal 4.1 rating after being directly responsible for both goals conceded.
The Red Devils fell behind in the 25th minute when Onana failed to deal with Thiago Almada’s wide free-kick, allowing the ball to sneak into the back of the net in amateurish fashion.
Manchester United equalised with the final kick of the first half as Leny Yoro reacted quickly to Manuel Ugarte’s deflected volley, heading home to make it 1-1.
Substitute Joshua Zirkzee then put United in front after the break, finishing calmly following a precise pass from Bruno Fernandes. The goal looked set to hand United the win heading into the second leg.
However, Onana once again faltered. He parried Georges Mikautadze’s shot directly into the path of Rayan Cherki, who made no mistake from close range, ensuring the tie remains level heading into the return leg.
