Troops Neutralize Two Terrorists, Dismantle Bandits Hideouts In Taraba

Troops from the Nigerian Army’s 6 Brigade and Sector 3 of Operation Whirl Stroke neutralized two terrorists and dismantled multiple bandits’ hideouts during a clearance operation in Taraba State.

Acting on credible intelligence, the troops engaged the suspects in a fierce gun battle around the villages of Garbatau, Garin Hamidu, Bandaguri, and Mayokan in Bali Local Government Area.

According to a statement by Captain Olubodunde Oni, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations for the 6 Brigade, two terrorists were killed in the exchange, while several others fled with gunshot wounds.

Recovered items from the operation include one AK-47 rifle with a magazine, four rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, a single-barrel dane gun, 27 arrows, and six cutlasses.

In a separate operation the same day, troops conducted a clearance patrol in Ibi Local Government Area, targeting suspected bandits’ hideouts near Yamiri Village in Sarkin Kudu Ward.

The criminals abandoned their camp upon sighting the advancing troops, leading to the recovery of a military woodland camouflage uniform and a Bible.

Oni added that the troops proceeded to destroy all discovered camps to deny the criminals any further operational base in the area.

“The Commander 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa commended the troops for their gallantry and reiterated the Brigade’s commitment to ensuring lasting peace and security across Taraba State.

“He urged the public to continue providing timely and credible information to aid ongoing military operations,” Oni stated.
