Tunde Onakoya Breaks Guinness World Record For The Second Time, Holds Official Record Of The Longest Chess Marathon

Tunde Onakoya, a Nigerian chess coach and founder of ‘Chess in Slum’, has broken the Guinness World Record for the second time, holding longest chess marathon after surpassing the existing record of 61 hours.

Onakoya in APRIL 2024 played at the Times Square in New York alongsideNational Chess Master of Puerto Rican descent, Shawn Martinez.

The duo have done the same again in 2025, at the same spot, breaking barriers to become champions.

“We did the impossible and gave the world something new to believe in. Official record holders of the Longest Chess Marathon for 64 hoours.” Onakoya posted on X.
