Nigerian rapper and singer, Raoul Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, pleaded with fans to allow him enjoy his new popularity

The rapper wrote on X on Wednesday: “I feel like my life just restarted again … I’m nothing but a learner … pls allow me to enjoy this moment without disrespecting anyone that has achieved way more than me … God is the greatest … let’s grow together yall”

Earlier, Skales’ 2015 hit song, Shake Body, has enjoyed a resurgence in popularity nearly a decade after its release. The song’s renewed success has been driven largely by new DJ remixes, especially one by Dutch DJ Onderkoffer.

After Skales shared the remix on music platforms, it recorded nearly 200,000 streams within just 10 hours, despite not being added to any playlists.

 The song also reached 1 million streams on Spotify within less than 24 hours after Lamine Yamal used it in a viral TikTok video. 

17-year-old FC Barcelona star Lamine Yamal was seen dancing to Shake Body in a viral TikTok video, introducing the song to a new generation of fans and further amplifying its reach.

Encouraging in the rapper’s comment section were some of his fans expressing happiness and joy over his tweet and new found fame.

@sposhbaba wrote: “I’m part of the people who are extremely happy for you, Skales May God keep keeping on with you and may you enjoy this new fame for long. May you gather great seeds from this fame that will settle you for future financial freedom.”
