Garnacho’s Brother and Rio Ferdinand Question Amorim’s Decision After Europa League Final Defeat

Alejandro Garnacho’s exclusion from the starting XI in the Europa League final has sparked criticism, with his brother and Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand both expressing disappointment over the decision.

Garnacho, who had played a key role throughout Manchester United’s Europa League campaign and scored in the last two finals, was only introduced in the 71st minute during United’s 2-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur.

His brother, known on Instagram as rrobber7, took to social media to voice his frustration. In a post shared via his Instagram story, he wrote:

“Working as no one else, helping every round, coming from 2 goals last 2 finals, just to be on the pitch 19 mins and get thrown under the bus, wowe hajjahhahaha.”

Garnacho’s limited involvement in the final also raised eyebrows from club legend Rio Ferdinand. He questioned Amorim’s decision to drop the Argentine on TNT SPORTS

“That’s one thing I will question about the selection today for Man United. Ruben Amorim was responsible for bringing Mason Mount into that midfield and we didn’t have anyone running in behind.

Garnacho has done that all season. You can say what you like about his end product and finishing, but he gives you that threat by stretching teams — and we didn’t really see Spurs stretched in that sense.”

The young winger himself didn’t hold back in his post-match remarks. Speaking to an Argentine journalist after the game, Garnacho said:

“Our season was crap. We don’t beat anyone in the league. I’ve played every round until we reached the final, but I only played 20 minutes today. I’ll enjoy the summer, and then we’ll see.”
