Dear Lagos Island Federal Constituency 2,

2019-2025 Yearly Report: Commitment to Progress and Transparency

As we reflect on the past 6 years and look to the future, I am pleased to provide you with my yearly report for 2019 – 2025, which highlights my legislative activities, key accomplishments, constituent services, and future legislative priorities as your representative in the Federal House of Representatives, Abuja.

Legislative Activities:

These 6 years, I have focused on addressing the critical issues facing our Constituency and our Nation. Formerly sitting as the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on North-East Development Commission, and currently as the Chairman, House Committee on Anti-corruption. I have participated in several number of hearings and markups to discuss and shape policy related to healthcare, education, economy, national security, strategic ties of the country with others, etc. A summary of bills introduced and co-sponsored is included to keep you apprised of my legislative direction.

Key Accomplishments:
We have achieved several milestones, including but not limited to- The moving of motion, which I authored to remember our heroes within the health sector.

• Motion for the immortalization of Late Mrs. Stella Adedavoh and other health officers who lost their lives during the Ebola virus outbreak.
• Served as a member on the Adhoc Committee on the Decongestion of Sea Ports in Nigeria. I canvassed, and ensured it formed part of the House Report, that Lagos Sea Port should be decongested by creation of other deep sea ports in Lagos State. It is my belief that this will add significant economic values to our dear State.
• As Deputy Chairman, House Committee on North-East Development Commission, I played a significant role in the oversight activities to ensure that the Commission realizes it’s core objectives, which are welfare of the people in IDP Camps and rebuilding of the North East.
• As a member of the Committee on Treaties, I was part of the Committee that investigated the level of compliance of International Oil Companies with their Treaties and Memorandum of Understanding with a focus on it’s impact on the host community and the Nigeria economy at large
• As Chairman, Ad-hoc Committee to Investigate Frequent Closure of Businesses in Nigeria, I was also nominated as a Member of the Sub-Committee Tasked with Investigating the Validity of Immigration Documents and the Alleged Abuse of Expatriates Quota and Business Permits in Nigeria, a Committee under the purview of the House Committee on Interior.
• As the Chairman, House Committee on Anti-corruption, he has successfully organized two TAC Colloquium both in Lagos and Akwa Ibom States, the first of it’s kind by the House Committee on Anti-corruption. This event has brought together all the Anti-corruption Agencies and Departments across Ministries to discuss about the Anti-corruption frameworks, successes and to see to the amendment where needed as this is in alignment to the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr. President in the fight against corruption.

Constituent Services:

Serving you remains my highest priority. These 6 years, my office has responded to many constituent inquiries and assisted in resolving issues involving federal agencies.

Through my office and position, I have been able to do the following;

- Provision of employment for my Constituents to provide Teaching and Supervisory services

- Provision of complete transportation cycle for students as relief measures during the ban and restriction of motorcycles, fuel scarcity and after the Covid 19 in my Constituency.

 - Skills acquisition training for members of the Lagos Island Federal Constituency 2

- Facilitation of empowerment for Artisans such as distribution of Clippers, Hair dryers, Sewing machines, Generator Set, Cash grants, Chest Freezers, amongst others 

- ICT training and empowerment of laptop for the teachers to further equip them for the growing demand of ICT.

- Facilitation of fully sponsored scholarships for Medical Practitioners within the Constituency to China

• Facilitation of Laptops to schools within Lagos Island Federal Constituency 2
  • Free Scholarship to beneficiaries from Lagos Island Federal Constituency 2 who are studying in our Tertiary Institutions
  • Distribution of Fire Extinguishers and Medical Equipments to hospitals and important places within the Constituency
  • Distribution of Motorcycles to the Nigerian Police Force as this will help reduce insecurities and civil unrest within the Constituency
  • Donations of writing materials such as books and other items to aid effective learning by students within the Constituency
  • Distribution of personal Protective Equipment (P.P.E) materials across Lagos Island Federal Constituency 2 during the COVID-19 pandemic
  • The renovation of (6) Classrooms at Okesuna Senior High School, Lagos Island, Girls Senior Academy,
• Installation of Solar Street Light across Lagos Island Federal Constituency 2, this includes but not limited to the following locations; Salu Court, Idi-oro Court, Atere, Forsythe, Apatira Street, Hawley by Pike Street, Pike Street (Down), Obadina, Olosun, Amuto, etc.

Community Engagement:
I have held series of town hall meetings and participated in numerous community events, ensuring I stay connected with the needs and aspirations of our Constituency.

My various Community engagement includes but not limited to the followings;

• Plays a Yearly host and presentation of Laptops to winners of the Inter-schools debate competition by the Shamadean Imole’s Foundation
• Free Summer Coaching lessons for students ranging from Primary to Secondary Education
  • Distribution of Food items across Lagos Island Federal Constituency 2 during lockdown period to ease the burden being faced by the Constituents
• Distribution of Grains (Rice) to the Members of my Constituents during Festive season to ease the pressure of cash crunch and Fuel scarcity being faced by the Citizens
  • Facilitation of Fish Farming Empowerment for the benefits of the people of Lagos Island Federal Constituency 2 from 2019 till date
  • Facilitation of Transformer to Luther by Bamgbose street, Lagos Island
  • Facilitation of Federal Government Grants and Loans to Business owners across Lagos Island Federal Constituency 2.
  • Consistency in the distribution of JAMB Forms in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 for deserving students in my Constituency as this will aide the development of their Education and Career in Life and by extension facilitation of Admissions into various Tertiary Institutions to Qualified Candidates.
  • Visitation and provision of support and relief materials to scores of the survivors of the building collapse at Ita-faji, Lagos Island Federal Constituency 2
  • Visitation and provision of support and relief materials to scores of the survivors of the building collapse in Kakawa, Lagos Island Federal Constituency 2

Facilitation of Employment Opportunities to deserving and qualified Constituents across Federal and State Ministries and Agencies

 - Regular engagement of the Community Leaders and Stakeholders on identification of the needs and priorities of the Lagos Island Federal Constituency 2

 - Facilitation of several Trainings and Empowerment of Constituent members on various skill acquisition this is in partnership with the Speed-Up Lagos, which graduated over 2100 members all within Lagos Island Federal Constituency 2

- Regular support for various Community Based Association, Bases, Groups and Stakeholders at regular intervals.

 - Provision of Educational support funds for students of Lagos Island Federal Constituency 2

Recognitions and Awards:
I am honored to have received recognitions from Speed-Up Lagos, Yabatech Student Union, and several other Community/Political groups acknowledging our collective work towards achieving a certain goal or standing up for a cause.
