Brighton has announced the signing of Nigeria international Chiamaka Nnadozie. The 24-year-old joins the Barclays Women’s Super League side on a free transfer after her contract with Paris FC expired.
Nnadozie’s heroics in the Coupe de France Féminine final last season against Paris Saint-Germain won Paris FC the trophy. She has played at the highest level in women’s football: the UEFA Women’s Champions League, the Women’s AFCON, and the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
She has won two titles with Nigeria — the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations and a gold medal at the African Games Championships.
She has also represented Nigeria at two World Cups, two WAFCON tournaments, and one Olympic Games.
She was named CAF Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year for the 2024 and 2025 seasons. She was also named IFFHS Africa’s Best Woman Goalkeeper for the year 2019.
Brighton manager Dario Vidosic expressed confidence in Nnadozie’s signing. He described her as a talented player who can add so much to the team:
“She’s a talented and commanding goalkeeper who will bring consistency and confidence to our defensive line. We’re confident she’ll add both depth and drive to a squad already full of ambition as we continue to build for next season.”
Nnadozie speaking to the club website said she was always interested in Brighton’s project and wants to help the club win trophies:
“It feels so great. I’m really excited to join this great club. Right from the beginning, when I heard the name of the club, I was so interested, and I’m happy to be here today. I want to win trophies, to win games, but most importantly, to help the team achieve great things.”
