Mozambican Captain Reinildo Joins Sunderland On Free Transfer

Reinildo Isnard Mandava will join newly promoted Premier League club Sunderland as a free agent. Atlético Madrid failed to renew Reinildo’s contract, which gave Sunderland an opportunity to sign him.

Reinildo joined Atlético Madrid from Lille for €3m in 2022 and went on to make more than 100 appearances for the club. Reinildo plays as a centre-back but can also operate as a left-back.

He brings with him experience to Sunderland. The 31-year-old is the captain of the Mozambique national team.

Reports from YAHOO Sports say he is expected to earn around a weekly pay of £65,000 with a two-year deal.

Reinildo’s rise to the Premier League is that of grace and consistency, as in 2015 he was playing in his home country Mozambique for GD Maputo.
