Nottingham Forest Accuse Tottenham of Illegal Approach in Gibbs-White Transfer

Morgan Gibbs-White’s proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur is currently off, with controversy surrounding the manner in which the North London club pursued the player.

Reports from the English press initially suggested that Spurs had triggered the player’s £60 million release clause. However, according to Sky Sports News, Tottenham allegedly made an illegal approach by activating the clause without informing Nottingham Forest directly.

EuroFoot quoted the report from Sky Sports, stating:

  • “Morgan Gibbs-White’s transfer to Tottenham is in jeopardy! Nottingham Forest consider the proposed transfer to be OFF for now.

They have contacted their lawyers over potential legal action and have halted all communication with Tottenham as things stand.

Nottingham Forest believe Tottenham made an illegal approach to the player without receiving formal permission to initiate talks. They also claim there has been a breach of confidentiality regarding the release clause.”

It remains unclear whether Nottingham Forest can completely block the transfer, but the move is now expected to be delayed as the club prepares to file a complaint with the Premier League.
