Arsenal Announce The Signing Of Denmark International Christian Nørgaard From Brentford

Arsenal have announced the signing of Christian Nørgaard from Brentford for £10 million, plus an additional £2 million in potential add-ons. His contract runs until June 30, 2027, with an option for a further year.

Speaking to Arsenal Media for the first time as a Gunner, Nørgaard highlighted the importance of playing in the UEFA Champions League, describing it as a dream come true:

  • “You can get almost emotional because maybe it was a dream that I’d given a little bit up on, coming towards the later stage of my career,” Christian said in his first interview.

“I’ve just turned 31 and had signed a new deal with Brentford. Of course, there’s always a little chance that a miracle could happen with Brentford, but it was probably unrealistic to play Champions League with them.

“Now, I get to hear the anthem and be a part of a Champions League campaign. It’s a childhood dream and something I didn’t think would be possible. So it’s something I’m really, really happy about.”

Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta described Nørgaard as a player with strong character, praising his leadership qualities:

  • “We’re delighted to welcome Christian Nørgaard to Arsenal. He is an international player with a wealth of Premier League experience. He has proven leadership skills and a strong character, which will be invaluable to our squad.

“He is a strong midfielder with excellent tactical awareness and versatility. He also has physical presence and intelligence, which will give us added depth and balance.

“Christian will bring a lot to the group both on and off the pitch, and we’re excited to start working with him in this next chapter of his career. We welcome Christian and his family to Arsenal.”

The club’s new sporting director also expressed delight at completing the signing of the Danish midfielder:

  • “We’re very pleased to welcome Christian Nørgaard to the club. He has been a consistently high performer in the Premier League and brings many qualities to our squad.

“He is a leader and a player with high tactical intelligence and versatility, who will have a very positive impact on the team. We welcome Christian to Arsenal.”

Nørgaard will wear the number 16 shirt at Arsenal, a number previously worn by Rob Holding.
