Satyapal Malik, the former governor of Jammu and Kashmir, died on August 5, 2025, at the age of 79 due to kidney-related ailments at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi.
He became famous in Indian politics by uttering some truths, which few dare to do. Malik was governor when Pulwama attack happened. He had labelled the Pulwama as “intelligence failure”.
The former governor said in an interview that PM Modi & NSA Ajit Doval had told him to “stay quiet or face consequences”.
Known for his long and eventful political journey, Malik began his career inspired by the socialist ideology of Lohia and rose through student politics to become a prominent national figure.
