39-Year-Old Colombian Sen. Miguel Uribe Turbay Succumb To Death, Weeks After Campaign Rally Shooting In Bogota.

Miguel Uribe, 39, a rising right-wing politician and possible future presidential candidate, died after being shot in the head at a June campaign rally in Western Bogota.

His wife, María Claudia Tarazona, confirmed his death early Monday.

The presidential hopeful was hit three times twice in the head and once in the knee while addressing a’ small crowd in a park.

Uribe Turbay was critically wounded on June 7 during a campaign rally in the country’s capital, suffering gunshot wounds to the head and leg. He underwent emergency surgery and remained hospitalized in intensive care until his death.

A 15-year-old suspect was arrested at the scene and authorities have since detained several others.
