Celtic Sign Kelechi Iheanacho On One-Year Deal Amid Mixed Fan Reactions

Celtic have completed the signing of Nigerian striker Kelechi Iheanacho on a one-year deal, with an option to extend for a further year.

The move has drawn mixed reactions from Celtic supporters, with some fans criticizing the decision to bring in the former Leicester City forward. However, head coach Brendan Rodgers has defended the signing, stating that Iheanacho will add quality to the squad.

“He is such a talented player, with great ability, athleticism and work rate,” Rodgers told Celtic’s official website.

“He has great experience and is right in his peak years, so he can be a great signing for us.”

Iheanacho joined Celtic just a day after his contract was terminated by Sevilla. The 27-year-old struggled to make an impact at the Spanish club, registering only 11 appearances and scoring three goals. He spent the second half of the season on loan at Middlesbrough, where he also failed to impress.

Despite recent form, the move to Celtic offers the Nigerian international a chance to revive his career—especially under a manager like Rodgers, who previously worked with him at Leicester City.
