Onana Agrees to Join Trabzonspor

André Onana is set to join Turkish side Trabzonspor from Manchester United. The move will be a straight loan with no buy option clause or loan fee. According to Fabrizio Romano, Onana will earn a higher salary at Trabzonspor, along with a signing fee.

Onana was no longer part of Rúben Amorim’s plans. Altay Bayındır has started all Premier League matches ahead of him this season, and with the signing of Semm Lammens from Royal Antwerp, it seemed likely that Onana would drop further down the pecking order to third choice.

The new goalkeeping situation at Manchester United played a key role in Onana’s decision to join Trabzonspor—especially with the World Cup coming up next year. Knowing he needs regular playing time to secure a spot in the Cameroon squad, the move became necessary.
