Nigeria has dropped one spot in the just released FIFA rankings. The Super Eagles have endured a poor run of form over the past month. They were knocked out of the African Nations Championship, a tournament for home-based players following 1-0 and 4-0 defeats to Senegal and Sudan. The losses further exposed the weaknesses in the Nigerian Professional Football League.
The senior national team also failed to impress, managing only a draw against South Africa in their latest World Cup qualifying tie. That result left Nigeria third in Group C, six points adrift of the top with just two games remaining.
The full rankings of the top African teams are as follows:
Morocco – 11th in the World
Senegal – 18th
Egypt – 35th
Algeria – 38th
Ivory Coast – 44th
Nigeria – 45th
Tunisia – 46th
Cameroon – 52nd
South Africa – 55th
Mali – 56th
