The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NDLEA has arrested a businesswoman, Okolonkwo Ebere Theresa, after she was caught attempting to smuggle methamphetamine concealed in her specially crafted bum pads. at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
According to a statement issued on Sunday, September 21, 2025, by NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the suspect was apprehended on Sunday, September 14, by Aviation Security officers of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) in collaboration with NDLEA operatives stationed at the screening point of Terminal 2.
During a detailed search, security officers discovered two parcels of a white crystalline substance hidden in her bum pad underwear.
Laboratory tests later confirmed the substance to be methamphetamine, weighing a total of 1.40 kilograms.
In her preliminary statement to NDLEA investigators, Ebere, who identified herself as a second-hand clothing dealer and POS operator based in Enugu, admitted to being recruited into drug trafficking by a criminal network.
The agency has since launched further investigations to uncover members of the syndicate behind her recruitment and to determine her intended destination.
