A man identified as Sani Yusuf on X on Tuesday revealed that he lived in the block 14 of the estate of Late Arise News Anchor that died following a tragic robbery on Monday at her Abuja residence.
The management of Arise News Channel announced the death of its 29-year-old anchor Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu while expressing grief.
Yusuf had posted under a News Blog: “This happened at the block I live in. I was the first victim to be attacked. Right in the heart of Abuja, man.
“I don’t wish anyone the things I witnessed. When I’m ready, I’ll share details for now may the souls of the departed find peace.” He added.
In another of his post, he wrote on how the estate security officer simply identified as Barnabas tried his best to fight off the intruders, however he was shot for his effort and died aftermath.
In his words: “our armed security officer, who tried to fight off the invaders but was shot in that attempt. I personally drove him to the hospital to get treated.
“I watched him pass on right in front of me hours later as he lost too much blood. He leaves behind a small family with one child. Side note: Our hospital emergency staff and services are really not ready, man, but that’s for another day.” He lamented the state of Nigeria medic care.
There has been different spin to the robbery from social media users, while Yusuf is restraining himself from telling it all online, he cautioned an influencer who said: “The hospital asked for ID card before treating Sommie. While all that nonsense was going on, she was dying slowly. Hospitals must be responsible.”
Yusuf was quick to react to the statement, debunking that the hospital didn’t delay treatment, as he took Sommie and the security to the hospital, filled their forms and paid for treatment but rather was not up to speed in treating emergency
His post on X read: “You guys need to stop peddling information that is untrue. I personally paid for and filled her and barnabas’s form, and I brought her ID to the hospital. The hospital never delayed treating anyone. Yeah, I have my personal gripe with them for how they handled the emergency. But stop spreading information that is not true.”

“Through a blend of her legal dexterity and reportorial vigour, Sommie advocated for out-of-school children and campaigned energetically against sexual and gender-based violence.
“One of her most recent coverages was the Submission of a Memorandum for the Reserved Seats for Women Bill held on the 21st of September.
“There, Sommie, alongside millions of other Nigerian women, advocated for a stronger representation for Nigerian women at the National Assembly.” The management wrote
