Hungary Prime Minister, Orbán Viktor on the second day, at the 7th European Political Community—EPC— Summit In Copenhagen, focusing on the war in Ukraine and wider European security, stated that “The situation is serious. Outright pro-war proposals are on the table.”
The EPC was launched in 2022 at the initiative of French President Emmanuel Macron, in response to Russia’s war on Ukraine.
It was designed as a forum for dialogue and cooperation between European nations both inside and outside the EU, without the formality of state visits.
Talks in Copenhagen are set to address support for Ukraine, Europe’s security landscape, and measures to make the continent more resilient. Broader discussions will also touch on economic security, drug trafficking and migration.
The Prime Minister, who is an active participant revealed that the coming months will be about threat of war as Hungary rejects Brussels strategy of wearing Russia down through endless war, the P.M signified pouring billions into Ukraine, sacrificing Europe’s economy, and sending hundreds of thousands to die at the front.
Viktor goes on to announce his disagreement at the summit stating that the EPC “want to declare the Russia-Ukraine war as our own. They want to send even more money to Ukraine. They want to fast-track Ukraine’s accession, which would include stopping oil and gas from Russia.
“All of this goes against Hungary’s interests. The pressure is strong and attacks come from all sides, but we will hold our ground!” he assured
The PM who rejected Ukrainian/Russian war as that of Hungarian stated further: “They want to hand over EU funds to Ukraine. They are trying to accelerate Ukraine’s accession with all kinds of legal tricks. They want to finance arms deliveries.
“All these proposals clearly show that the Brusselians want to go to war. I will stand firmly by the Hungarian position, but this summit also proves that the coming months will be about the threat of war. We will need the support of our entire political community and of every Hungarian who longs for peace.”
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is expected to attend the seventh meeting of the European Political Community (EPC), which follows an informal meeting EU leaders’ summit in the Danish capital on Thursday
The 47 invitees include all EU heads of state and government, alongside leaders from outside the bloc such as the UK, Ukraine, Moldova, Switzerland and Georgia.
