Video: Retired DSP Admits To Escorting Politicians Hide Stolen Funds In Pension Protest, Expresses Pain Over Unpaid Wages At A Police Retirees Protest In Abuja

A retired Deputy Superintendent of Police spoke at a protest in Abuja on Saturday, disclosing that officers like him escorted politicians to conceal stolen public funds in villages, while retirees now struggle with delayed entitlements.

“We are the ones that escort politicians after they stole public money, we follow them to hide the money in their villages. Now, to pay us our entitlement is an issue.” The retired DSP expresses pain over unpaid wages

Under the Contributory Pension Scheme, officers receive monthly pensions as low as ₦40,000 and gratuities of ₦1-3 million after decades of service, amid 30% inflation and 35 months of arrears.

Nationwide protests by police retirees demand the scheme’s abolition, highlighting systemic issues in Nigeria’s pension system.
