Cristiano Ronaldo received the Globe Prestige Award at the Portugal Football Globes 2025 ceremony on Tuesday, recognizing his 22 years of service to the national team.
In an appreciation post on X he wrote: “Proud of this special recognition. 22 years with the National Team and I continue with the same passion. Thank you to all the coaches and teammates who helped me get here. Thank you, @selecaoportugal!”
In his acceptance speech, he expressed pride and reaffirmed his passion for playing with Portugal and Al-Nassr, while focusing on upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Ireland and Hungary.
Ronaldo dismissed retirement rumors, emphasizing his day-by-day approach and commitment to contributing to the team’s success ahead of the 2026 tournament.
“It’s about enjoying the moment. I know I don’t have many years left to play, but the little time I have, I want to make the most of it. I have a philosophy of living day by day. No long-term plans. I enjoy each day and each training session.
“I want to keep playing for a few more years, not many, I have to be honest. I’m still producing good things, helping my club and the National Team. Why not continue? I’m sure when I retire, I’ll leave fulfilled because I gave everything”.
The Al Nassr player thank his team mates for their support over the years: ““I thank all my teammates for everything I’ve learned from them – and even from this younger generation too. Our goal is to win the next two games and qualify for the World Cup. What happens at the World Cup, we’ll see…”
