Texas National Guard Troops Arrives Chicago Area, Illinois Pritzker Threatens To Withdraw From Governors Forum If Association Chooses To Keep Mute

Around 400 Texas National Guard troops arrived in the Chicago area on Tuesday to provide security for ICE agents conducting immigration raids on undocumented immigrants with criminal records, as part of President Donald Trump’s enforcement strategy.

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson oppose the deployment, filing a lawsuit alleging it violates the Posse Comitatus Act, though a federal judge denied an immediate block.

Governor Pritzker on X threatened to withdraw from National Governors Association: “If the National Governors Association chooses to remain silent, Illinois will have no choice but to withdraw from the organization. We should be standing as one against the idea that Donald Trump can call up the National Guard against our will.”

U.S Senator Chris Murphy from Connecticut opined that: “This is out of hand. These agents are there to cause trouble and violence, not to keep people safe. These are the scenes that play out in war torn, destitute countries – not America.”
