Air ACT Boeing 747-481 Cargo Plane Skids Off The Northern Runway And Plunged Into The Sea During Landing At Hong Kong International Airport .

Air ACT Boeing 747-481 cargo plane, operating as Emirates SkyCargo flight EK9788 from Dubai, skidded off the northern runway (07L) and plunged into the sea during landing at Hong Kong International Airport .

The aircraft reportedly collided with a ground service vehicle, dragging it into the water. While four crew members survived, two ground workers remain missing.

The incident occurred at about 3.53am with TC-ACF reportedly veered left midway through its landing roll before plunging partly into the waters off the runway.

Rescue operations are ongoing, with fire department and marine police deploying boats and a Government Flying Service helicopter to search the area. Emergency teams have also cordoned off the runway.

The aircraft has been declared a total loss, and the northern runway temporarily closed for investigation, though the airport’s central and southern runways remain operational to minimize disruptions.

Authorities, including the Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department, are probing the cause, with initial reports pointing to possible wet runway conditions from recent rain.
