President Donald Trump’s new ban on travel to the U.S. by citizens from 12 mainly African and Middle Eastern countries took effect Monday amid rising tension over the president’s escalating campaign of immigration enforcement. The new proclamation, which Trump signed last week, applies to citizens of Afghanistan, Myanmar, Chad, the Republic of Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen. It also imposes heightened restrictions on people from Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan and Venezuela who are outside the U.S. and don’t hold a valid visa. The new ban does not revoke visas previously issued to people from countries on the list,...

Ronaldo Leads Portugal to Third International Title After Epic Battle with Spain
Portugal claimed their second-ever UEFA Nations League title—and third major international trophy—following a dramatic 120-minute encounter and penalty shootout victory over Spain. Spain struck first through Martín Zubimendi in the 21st minute, but just five minutes later, Nuno Mendes drew Portugal level. In first-half stoppage time, Mikel Oyarzabal restored Spain’s lead with a well-placed finish. Cristiano Ronaldo had a relatively quiet second half, but as he has done so many times before, he rose to the occasion. Since then, the U.S. and China have exchanged angry words over advanced semiconductors that power artificial intelligence, “rare earths” that are vital to carmakers and other industries, and visas for Chinese students at American universities. President Donald Trump spoke at length with Chinese leader Xi Jinping...
