Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo on Wednesday gave an account of how Abraham Adesanya, late leader of Pan-Yoruba political group, Afenifere, rejected his candidature for the presidency three times. Obasanjo gave the account in Lagos, at the 10th memorial symposium of the late National Democratic Coalition (NADECO) chieftain. Adesanya, a politician, senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN), activist and deputy leader of NADECO, a pro-democracy movement formed in 1994, died on April 27, 2008, aged 85. Obasanjo said: “I did not know late Pa Adesanya in my early days or in his early days in politics. I came to know him when I...

BREAKING: Nigerians worse off than they were at independence in 1960. ~ Dr. Akinwumi Adesina
The President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), Dr Akinwumi Adesina, has warned that Nigeria is facing a deeper economic regression than many realise, stating that with a current GDP per capita of just $824, Nigerians are significantly worse off than they were at independence in 1960. “In spite of being Africa’s largest economy, Nigeria’s per capita income has dropped significantly, making citizens poorer than at independence. “Our GDP per capita in 1960 was 1,847 dollars. Today, it stands at 824 dollars. Nigerians are worse off than 64 years ago,” he stated. He identified poor fiscal discipline, policy inconsistency, weak...

Their rulings impact lives, influence peace in our neighbourhoods, and shape public trust in the legal system. “That’s why it’s so important to provide them with the comfort, dignity, and independence they deserve. “This...
South Korea’s Main Conservative Party Nominates Kim Moon Soo As Its Presidential Candidate
Former Labor Minister and staunch conservative Kim Moon Soo won the presidential nomination of South Korea’s main conservative party, facing an uphill battle against liberal front-runner Lee Jae-myung for the June 3 election. Observers say Kim will likely try to align with other conservative forces, such as former Prime Minister Han Duck-soo, to prevent a split in conservative votes and boost prospects for a conservative win against Lee. In a party primary that ended Saturday, Kim won 56.5% of the votes cast, beating his sole competitor, Han Dong-hun, the party said in a televised announcement. Other contenders have been eliminated in earlier rounds. “I’ll...

Australian PM Anthony Albanese Wins Re-Election Local Networks Say Based On Early Vote Count
Australian PM Anthony Albanese wins re-election but it is unclear yet if he has a majority, local networks say based on early vote count on Saturday, turning to an upset for the conservative coalition that was undermined at the ballot box by its association with President Donald Trump. The Labor Party pulled ahead of the conservative Liberal-National coalition, led by Peter Dutton, with the Australian Electoral Commission’s early projections suggesting at least 70of the 150 House seats for Labor, according to the Australian broadcaster ABC. “Not the night we wanted,” Dutton said at his party headquarters, adding that he had congratulated Albanese on his win....
