Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) CSP Omolola Odutola, has confirmed the death of one of its operatives who reportedly committed suicide. The tragic incident happened at about 1:20 p.m. on Friday when the deceased officer was on special duty at Goodwill Ceramic Company. Ajele Oloyede, a Police Mobile Force (PMF) operative attached to MOPOL 78, Zamfara State, was alleged to have turned his rifle on himself while on special duty. The Nigerian Army’s payroll transactions for 2024 amounted to a staggering N139.1bn, according to data from a portal documenting government expenditures, Govspend. The transactions, recorded between February and October 2024, cover salary payments for the Nigerian Army and the Nigerian Army University Biu and were paid from the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System to the service. An analysis of the data by Sunday PUNCH revealed that the monthly payments ranged from N11.4bn to N20.5bn for army personnel, while the university received amounts between N5.5m and N181m per month.
